TORONTO : Parties to Catch in February
I’m tired of hearing people say there’s never anything cool happening in Toronto. Toronto might not be the first city that comes to mind when you think of electronic music and dance parties, yet I’ve found it’s underground scene to be one of the coolest I’ve had the chance to take part in. Here are some events to check in February 2020.
R, RISK, MAKS, Korea Town Acid | Bambi’s | 02.07
Under the guise of industrial techno and IDM, this evening curated by Korea Town Acid will feature DJs and 2 live hardware sets. Things are about to get plunky af.

90's House Music Tribute Party 2020 | Revival | 02.08
In the 90s, I was a wee lad. Every Friday night I used to watch this weird t.v. show on Musique Plus. They would put a bunch of 18 year olds in the studio and make them dance awkwardly to electronic music. I wanted nothing more than to be one of them someday. I can finally live my fantasy with this throwback party.

Cody Currie | One Loft | 02.14
The Berlin-based DJ Cody Currie juggles house and disco expertly. If you don’t have a boo for Valentine’s, come listen to his “warm-sounding drums” and “loose timing” (I’m quoting the event’s copy here, folks).

Archie Hamilton | CODA | 02.15
Archie Hamilton needs to wear one of these “The Man / The Legend” t-shirts, but like, with both arrows pointing to his face. The dance music maestro will drop by TO for a party that will most likely end late. If you can only go to one CODA event this month, make it that one.

Blawan | 163 Weston Rd | 02.21
Format celebrates its 6th anniversary with Blawan, a techno DJ bound to give you a heart attack.

DR. FRESCH | Noir Toronto | 02.22
Y’know, sometimes you just want to unwind, take a bunch of drugs, listen to super loud EDM and check out some mind-melting visuals. DR. FRESCH has just what he (i.e. the doctor) ordered. Take 10 CCs of bass stat and call him in the morning.

Sam Divine | 188 | 02.29
2020 is a leap year, so I’m going to take a big (winks) leap (winks again, annoyingly) and say you should go to this party. DVINE Sounds mastermind Sam Divine makes her northern debut in February.
