Hey, Check Out DJ Planet Express' New Track 'Headphase'
For a person with a lo-fi house hit titled More Than You’d Ever Wanna Know, boy I’ll tell ya’, DJ Planet Express sure has managed to stay under the old radar-aroonie in terms of social media presence. As any good label A&R will tell you, if you want to make it in this town, you have to keep people updated on every single thing you’ve had for dinner, plus maybe you should share as many intrusive details about your personal life as possible.
After an exhaustive search online (by which I mean I Googled “DJ Planet Express” and I scrolled through the first page of results), the only info I could find is that the producer is currently located in Toronto, and, yeah… no, that’s pretty much it.
Look, as a person who doesn’t have a personal Instagram account, I can surely say that I ≋f≋e≋e≋l≋ this nondescript Canadian musician. Maybe they don’t want to expose every second of their life online for the sick pleasure of the masses… I get it, man…
Just like me, maybe they get a rush of superiority when they look at all the lemmings hunched over their phones all day, completely disconnected from whatever the opposite of cyberspace is…
What was I saying?
Oh yeah, I don’t have much info about DJ Planet Express other than they make really good electronic music. And I’m not gonna lie, the shroud of mystery surrounding the project also does a little something for me.
Tracks like Wanted U 2 Kno and Everywhere I Go have been the jewel of my playlists recently. I just can’t get enough of this left-field take on classic dance music techniques.
DPE’s new track Headphase is no different, exploring techno paradigms while cultivating this specific left-field sound we all know and love. To be honest, a lot of techno stresses me the fuck out, but this track doesn’t for some reason. It puts me in a good mood actually.
A real good mood.
