INTERVIEW: INAMAR
Swiss DJ and producer INAMAR has swiftly emerged as a captivating force in the dance music scene, celebrated for her signature blend of melodic techno and progressive house. Her latest single, "Rhythm," out on Sirup Records, leads listeners through an immersive soundscape of hypnotic beats, atmospheric synths, and introspective melodies—each layer meticulously self-produced. This release follows a series of successful singles, including fan favorites "A Million Stars" and "Sky Is The Limit," both championed by industry icons like David Guetta and EDX. As "Rhythm" showcases INAMAR’s evolution and deep artistic commitment, we dive into an exclusive interview where she shares a glimpse into her creative world, from her daily routines and influences to her favorite gear and advice for emerging artists. Let’s dive in!
Can you tell us where you are in the world? What does your daily life look like over there?
I grew up in Zürich but now I live in Lugano, in the Italian part of Switzerland. I love everything about this place: for me, it's magical and the source of inspiration for my music. I also love the Italian way of life that pulses through this beautiful city.
My daily routine: I wake up, do yoga and meditation, drink my healthy vegetable shake, go for a walk with my dog, Jack, and then I feel ready for a productive day in the studio. It's the best way to start my day.
You’re promoting your latest single 'Rhythm'. What does it represent for you?
For my latest track, 'Rhythm,' I was inspired by my crowd. I love being in rhythm with them, and that feeling is now captured in this track.
When you work on new music, do you have a ritual or a routine?
My creative process always starts by jamming on my piano randomly, creating melodies and lyrics. Once I’ve created them, I switch to my DAW Logic Pro X and transmit the final idea.
What advice would give to a young musician starting today?
Produce as much music as you can. With each track, you improve and take your sound to a next level. The same applies to DJing: the more you play, the more confidence you gain.
What’s the first significant piece of gear you owned?
My Komplete Kontrol MIDI keyboard. Of course, I also bought a smaller version to take with me when I travel, so I can create melodies wherever I am. It's great because whenever I'm inspired, I can make music.
What would be your desert island plugins and/or digital tools? Are there VSTs you couldn’t live without? What do you like about using them?
I can't live without the plugins from Komplete by Native Instruments. I love using them in all my productions, especially Massive.
But of course, I also use Serum a lot, it's a classic!
What was the last track by another artist you were obsessed with?
I'm obsessed with the track 'Best of Me' by ARTBAT. It's the closing song in every set I play. I love the message of the song, and I enjoy sharing it with my crowd as a way to say thank you at the end of my set.
What do you have coming up in the next few months?
I’m happy to announce that on November 1st, my remix for Pretty Pink will be released on Deep Woods.
Of course, I’m working a lot on new music and would love to collaborate with other artists. Additionally, I’m planning to perform my music internationally.
